Start caring for your skin yesterday
Don’t wait for the first signs of ageing skin, like wrinkles or dryness, to appear. The sooner you start looking after your skin, the sooner it will begin to glow with health.
Develop an effective skin care routine
Incorporate moisturising day, night and eye creams, cleansers and face masks. Remember to always be diligent with your routine – morning and night.
HOW OUR SKIN AGES
As we grow older, various processes which change the appearance, structure and behaviour of our skin take place. Major skin changes occur when we age including: reduced cell activity, slower regeneration of the epidermis and lower collagen production. The effects of UV radiation also increase. All of these changes can lead to skin losing its moisture and elasticity, which lead to the development of fine lines and wrinkles.
Timely prevention of skin ageing
The skin’s ageing process is unique to everyone and is affected by both internal and external factors. However, in general it may be said that from the age of 25-30 years you should be using an anti ageing cream as part of your face care routine.
What are the signs of ageing skin?
Facial exercises to combat wrinkles
In addition to having the right skin care routine and a healthy lifestyle, daily facial exercises help to combat wrinkles. By performing the correct exercises, you can stimulate blood flow to your skin, which helps counteract the formation of wrinkles and fine lines.
Here are two exercises you can do:
- Firm cheeks: Puff out your cheeks and lay your fingers flat on them. Try to maintain the tension in your cheeks whilst are pressing against them with your fingers.
-
Smooth temples and forehead: Eliminate those tiresome forehead wrinkles by bending your head forward slightly and placing the tips of all your fingers (apart from the thumbs) on your hairline. At the same time, the heels of your hands should point towards the ground, turned slightly facing outward. Now rotate your fingertips on the spot for up to 30 seconds. Take a 60-second break and repeat the exercise. This exercise releases tension in the upper part of the head and forehead to act against wrinkles.
Tip: This exercise also helps to relieve headaches.
