SUSTAINABILITY - HOW NIVEA TOUCHES THE PLANET

At NIVEA, we see economic growth as inseparable from corporate responsibility towards people and the environment.

As a global skin care company, we are well aware of the environmental and social challenges we are faced with. While our skincare products are enjoyed everyday around the world, we want to provide these products in the most sustainable way. For us, this means without harming the environment, in recognition of human rights along the whole value chain and to the benefit of societies around the globe.

Our Sustainability department reports directly to our Executive Board

Sustainability management is anchored structurally and organisationally in our company. The Corporate Sustainability department controls and monitors the measures implemented.

We exceeded our 2012-2020 sustainability targets

PRODUCT

Generate 50% of our sales by 2020 from products with an improved environmental impact (base year 2011).

By the end of 2019, we exceeded this target at 55%

PLANET

Reduce our energy-related CO2e emissions per product manufactured by 70% by 2025 (base year 2014).

By the end of 2019, we had already come very close to this goal with a CO2e reduction of 65%. We achieved our goal of switching all our sites worldwide from electricity to renewable energy sources by 2020.

PEOPLE

Improve lives of one million families around the world by 2020. This is done by implementing long-term social projects in more than 50 countries, in close collaboration with local experts to deliver lasting benefits to local communities.

By end of 2019 we reached a total of 1,068,958 families (between 2013-19)
