Exfoliating your lips keeps them feeling and looking healthy

However, it’s important to know how to exfoliate lips properly so that you don’t cause any damage. The damage or dryness on your lips may be a result of the weather e.g. UV-radiation from the sun or coldness, incorrect care or stress. Indulging in an exfoliating treatment once or twice a week will help cleanse your lips so they are left looking healthier than ever.

HOW TO EXFOLIATE YOUR LIPS

  • Make sure your lips are clean of make up before you start
  • Gently exfoliate lips using a toothbrush or flannel to get rid of dead skin
  • Use a humidifier to help keep the air around you moist
  • Wear a lip balm with an SPF factor if you’re exfoliating in the morning, or a hydrating moisture lip balm if you’re about to hop into bed.

TIPS FOR EXFOLIATING YOUR LIPS

When exfoliating your lips, remember these important tips.

Be Gentle

Don’t exfoliate lips too hard! Use a toothbrush to gently exfoliate your lips in small circular motions. If your lips are sensitive, use a small children's toothbrush to get the same impact without hurting your skin..

Don't over Exfoliate

Limit your lip exfoliation routine to once a week, this is enough to remove the dry skin to help maintain soft and supple lips.

Protect your Lips

When going outdoors, make sure to apply a lip balm that has an SPF component to protect your lips from the harmful sun.

Always Moisturise after Exfoliating

Opt for a rich lip balm to hydrate your lips after exfoliation. NIVEA Original Care Lip Balm with Shea Butter and natural oils will help keep your lips moisturised for 24h!
