HOW TO SHAVE YOUR FACE FOR MEN – A SIMPLE GUIDE

A perfect shave is all in the preparation. Failing to adequately prep your skin often ends in cuts, irritation, ingrown hairs and an altogether patchy finish. Given that you’ll shave around 20,000 times in your life, it’s worth making sure you learn how to do it properly – by following these simple four steps!

1. PREPARE YOUR FACE FOR SHAVING

The first step to any kind of shave is to prepare your skin.

Cleanse your skin with your cleanser of choice to get rid of excess oils. Use warm water to relax the skin, open your pores and soften hair to make shaving easier and painless. A little scrub action with an exfoliator will lift hairs and get rid of dead skin cells, making it easier to cut and also less prone to ingrown hairs and razor bumps.

2. APPLY A SHAVING GEL, FOAM OR CREAM

The next step is to apply a shaving product that suits your skin type and spread it all over your beard so it covers every inch of hair.

If you have easily irritable skin, try a Sensitive shaving product.
If your skin feels dry, use our Protect & Care shaving range.
For normal skin or if you aren’t sure about your skin type, the Deep Shave Gel is the best place to start for a fresh skin feeling.

3. HOW TO GET A CLEAN SHAVE

Use a clean, sharp razor to ensure you get the perfect shave and let your razor do the work for you.

Shave in the direction that your hair grows with gentle strokes. This will help to prevent those painful red shaving bumps and rashes.

Always rinse your razor after every swipe, in order to get rid of the hair caught in the blades. Remember to reapply the shaving product when you need to go over the same area again.

Try not to shave over the same area too many times or be too rough with the razor to reduce the risk of irritation and rashes.

4. SHAVING AFTER CARE

Shaving is pretty harsh on the skin, which makes aftercare just as important as preparation.

After shave is not only important to reduce the risk of shaving rashes, but it also helps to moisturise the skin.

We have a range of aftershave products, perfectly designed for your skin type, whether you have sensitive, dry or normal skin.
