FOUR ESSENTIAL TIPS FOR SUN PROTECTION CARE

We all know the Australian and New Zealand sun is harsh and spending time in the sun can damage our skin. Here are our 4 tips to help protect and care for your skin so you can enjoy days out in the sun.

1. Make sunscreen a daily routine

Make sure you apply sunscreen to your face as a part of your daily routine all year round. In warmer months remember to apply sunscreen to all exposed parts of the body before spending time outdoors. Even when it’s overcast, UV radiation can still put major stress on your skin. Everyone’s skin reacts differently to the sun and therefore it’s important to remember to apply the recommended amount of sunscreen 20 minutes before sun exposure to help protect your skin from sun damage.

2. Protect your skin

It’s important to not only apply sunscreen but also use other protective options such as wearing a wide brimmed hat, your favourite sunglasses, protective clothing and avoid being out in the sun in the middle of day.

3. Stay hydrated

Try to drink two to three litres of water a day in summer to keep your fluid levels up and to help your skin stay hydrated.

4. Keep your skin moisturised

A day out in the sun, whether it's swimming, sport, or bushwalking, can dry out your skin. Remember to apply your sunscreen, or our Protect & Moisture range of sunscreens with the added benefit of offering moisturisation and sun protection. Always remember to reapply sunscreen regularly during the day, especially after sweating, swimming or towel drying to make sure skin is always protected from the sun. Finally, after a day in the sun if your skin feels dry, apply a body lotion like our Rich Nourishing Body Lotion to help moisturise your skin.

Always read the label and follow the directions of use. Sunscreens are only one part of sun protection. Avoid prolonged high-risk sun exposure. Reapply frequently.
