Argan Oil

Argan oil – your exotic antioxidant boost

Moisturising dry and sensitive skin can be problematic. With so many products on the market that contain irritating synthetic ingredients, it can be hard to find one that suits your delicate skin type. Argan oil is one of nature’s most moisturising and versatile oils that has been used on skin and hair for centuries.

Argan oil is derived from the kernels of the ancient argan tree in Morocco. This valuable oil is still produced the same way as it was centuries ago. It is made by hand in Morocco by cracking argan nuts between two stones and then manually grinding them in a stone grinder. After the ground nuts have been hand-kneaded for many hours, the pulp is then cold-pressed into argan oil. For 30 kilos of ground argan nuts, it takes up to 12 hours to become argan oil.

The oil has long been highly valued by Moroccan women for its cosmetic properties for hundreds of years. They use it not only to prepare meals, but in body and hair care too.

More than 80% of argan oil consists of unsaturated fatty acids, including Omega-9 and Omega-6, and contains three times the amount of vitamin E as olive oil. This nutrient-rich, antioxidant nut helps to care for the skin and hair to keep it moisturised, smooth and protected.

These are the most beneficial ways of incorporating argan oil into your skincare routine:

1.For a youthful, glowing boost
Add a drop of a facial oil like an argan oil to your foundation, NIVEA tinted moisturiser, BB or CC cream for a youthful, dewy boost to your complexion.

2.As a moisturising lip exfoliator
For a simple and natural homemade lip exfoliator, combine a few drops of argan oil with a drop of vanilla extract and a teaspoon of brown sugar. Gently massage the mixture into your lips using a circular motion and rinse off. Your lips will be left free of dry skin and the argan oil will lock in moisture to keep your pout plump.

3.As a natural softener for your hands and feet
Massage a product containing argan oil, like NIVEA’s Hand Creams, into your cuticles in the morning and the night to help soften and moisturise. Massage a generous pump of argan oil into your heels and toes before bed, then cover with socks, to nourish and hydrated dry feet.

NIVEA’s range of Pure and Natural skincare products is made from 95% naturally sourced ingredients. Organic chamomile, organic argan oil and organic aloe vera help to intensively moisturise your face and body from head to toe, just as nature intended.

This product range is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin and dry skin. Each product is formulated to naturally and gently provide hydration and nourishment, leaving your skin feeling silky and smooth.
