For 55 years, the NIVEA experts have been researching and innovating in anti-aging care, studying the skin’s natural processes and developing formulas that support them, working with the skin’s biology. Discover our answers to all your questions about the best anti-aging and re-energizing formulas for beautiful and radiant skin.
1. What makes NIVEA Q10 plus C Anti-Wrinkle + Energy range so different?
Free radicals from the environment, such as UV light and air pollutants damage our skin and age it prematurely. They attack cellular membranes and disrupt proper functioning of the cells. In order to protect our skin from free radicals, we need anti-oxidants. NIVEA Q10 plus C Anti-Wrinkle + Energy range combines two highly effective antioxidants: skin's own Q10 and vitamin C. This synergistic combination offers better protection against cellular stress and free radicals.
2. How does coenzyme Q10 work on the skin?
Q10 is a co-enzyme that occurs naturally in skin cells and functions in two ways: as an energy provider and as an anti-oxidant. As a necessary component of energy production in skin cells, Q10 supports all essential processes in the cells from cell regeneration to synthesis of collagen. In addition, Q10 anti-oxidants protect against free radicals, which damage skin cells and are one cause of premature skin aging. The amount of Q10 in the skin decreases over the years, however. The Nivea Q10 plus C Anti-Wrinkle + Energy care line replenishes the Q10 level of the skin.
3. How does Vitamin C boost the positive effects of coenzyme Q10?
The co-enzyme Q10 is even more effective in combination with Vitamin C. This highly effective combination protects skin cells, supports skin regeneration and increases skin cell oxygen uptake. Studies have proven that the combination of Q10 and Vitamin C boost metabolism more than Q10 on its own. This makes it possible for the skin to breathe “deeply” at night.
4. What effect does Vitamin C have on our skin?
Pure Vitamin C is a highly effective anti-oxidant and displays multiple positive effects on the skin. In addition, pure Vitamin C improves skin structure by strengthening the papilla density of the skin. This enables the skin to transport more nutrients and oxygen to the dermis and, in this way, also helps prevent the formation of wrinkles.
5. What is the best way to use and preserve care products with Vitamin C?
Even though the aluminium tube protects the formula against oxygen and light exposure, the product should be closed tightly immediately after every application, so that the formula has as little contact with air as possible. Besides that, we recommend wiping the nozzle after every application before closing the tube.
6. NIVEA Q10 plus C Energy Skin Sleep Cream lets skin cells breathe deeply. Why is this so important?
The combination of energizer co-enzyme Q10 and pure Vitamin C is capable of increasing so-called “cellular respiration”. Beiersdorf Skin Research has demonstrated this in elaborate studies on skin cells. The process enables better supply of energy to the skin cells, which need it to perform necessary metabolic functions like repair processes. This helps the skin counteract the appearance of premature aging effects.
7. Ascorbic acid, better known as Vitamin C, is an acid. Will it not harm the skin?
Ascorbic acid is a weak acid and the pH-value of the formula is in the neutral range. This makes the formula with the Vitamin C concentration used by us both highly effective and very agreeable to the skin at the same time. As with any NIVEA product, this formula has been extensively tested and its high skin compatibility has been established in scientific studies.
